Services

I believe the architect’s role is to guide the client through the development process, rather than create a design for them in isolation. My designs are based on a comprehensive understanding of how much space is needed for activities and how best to maximize efficiency of layout and natural light availability.

  • Initial Consultation
The first step in any project is to visit the client and in a meeting which inevitably involves a walk round and a conversation, an assessment is made of the challenges of the project. Appropriate measurements are taken and the extent of alterations are estimated and used as the basis for a Fee Bid

  • Brief development
The principal design skill an architect brings to the client is the ability to think outside the box and he or she will, with the client explore all the possibilities inherent in the challenge.

  • Measured Drawing
It is quite impossible to design effectively without comprehensive survey information expressed as measured drawings of floor plans, roof plans, the site and elevations. This information also plays an important role in any planning applications that may be required. We can carry out a full measured survey, quite different to the valuation or structural survey normally associated with property purchase.

    Design.
The design process tests proposals and allows evaluation, explores possibilities and on the basis that drawings are cheaper than buildings, can help avoid costly mistakes.

  • Energy Conservation Advice.
We can give advice on aspects of energy conservation and ensure that proposals coply with the requirements of legislation.

  • Planning Permission and Listed Building Consent.
We can produce your planning application, advising where appropriate on permitted development rights and, if required, negotiating with the Local Authority Planning Department. We also are happy to undertake applications for Listed Building consent.

  • Building Regulations Approval
We offer a full Building Regulations applications service, and we can help our clients meet all the latest expectations. We have close links with a reputable Structural Engineer and are happy to recommend them.

Provision of Service Regulations 2009. In accordance with the above regulation, my Architects Registration number is to be found on my CV and details of professional indemnity insurance is available on request for anybody availing themselves of my services.
